The break-up of the IIT seats matricule by category — general, OBC, SC, ST, and EWS — would be provided. By checking the seat matrix, the candidates can get an idea about the number of seats offered at each institution. The seat matrix can be used to check total seats available for different courses at various IITs across the country. The number of seats available in an IIT, in courses, and by category, would be made available via IIT Seat Matrix. 

Students achieving a pass in 2022 JEE Advanced exam will be eligible for applying in the IITs. The various courses included Chemical engineering, Aerospace engineering, Computer science and engineering, civil engineering, mechanical engineering, etc. Candidates should be aware that a list of seats would be released by the JoSAA, in association with all IITs, once JEE Advanced is conducted. IIT Bhubaneshwar has 180 seats altogether comprising 40 seats for civil engineering, computer engineering, electrical engineering, and mechanical engineering. IIT Patna has allotted 200 seats altogether comprising 50 seats for Computer Science & Engineering, 50 seats for Electrical Engineering, 50 seats for Mechanical Engineering, 25 seats for Chemical Science and Technology, and 25 seats for Civil & Infrastructure Engineering, respectively. 

How Many Seats Are There In IIT

Admissions will be made to 23 IITs across the country in a total number of 16598 seats, 366 more than last year. As per latest updates, there are total of 16598 seats up for grabs at various IITs this year. Only 16,053 seats are available at the IITs, out of 2.5 lakh applicants. About 20000-25000 candidates have qualified, of whom only 10000 have succeeded to secure seats in 23 different IITs.

The minimum score is about 150-160 (General) to get any branch at any IIT as only about 11,000 seats are available at all the IITs. The authorities administer and regulate the combined seat allocation for IIT admissions across Indias 23 Indian Institutes of Technology (IIITs).
