You can enter an IIT without taking JEE exams by appearing for CAT. Students who qualify in international Olympiads get direct entry to the IITs without taking an entrance exam. While Design courses are available via CEED, there are a number of Engineering courses that candidates can gain entry into without having to sit for the JEE Advanced or the IIT Entrance Examination.  

Students willing to go to an IIT may be able to get in by taking up other IIT courses that do not require JEE scores. There are bachelors courses, some masters programs, some short-term courses, and different exams apart from the JEE which could give you an admission to an IIT. If you are looking for an entry in Indian Institutes of Technology without the Entrance Exam for the bachelors courses in Design, then you could take UCEED exams. When it comes to getting admission into top tier engineering colleges of the country — Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), cracking JEE Advanced is the most common way.

To study in Indian Institute of Technology you will have to go for Science stream with physics, chemistry and Mathematics as your main subjects in your higher secondary studies. Only those candidates who have passed the Class 12/equivalent examination in 2020, 2021, or those who are appearing in Class 12/equivalent examination in 2022, are eligible to appear in JEE (Main) – 2022.There is no need for extensive usage of a laptop in first year as such. For the graduate programmes, there is Joint Entrance Examination for Engineers (JEE), the Advanced Placement Test for Engineers (GATE), M.Phil, M.Sc., M.Phil., M.Sc., M.Sc., M.Sc.

Admission into humanities, social sciences, and other multidisciplinary programmes at the IITs is by means of Institute-level Entrance Examinations conducted separately by the Institutes. Students wishing to study at an IIT, not only for the engineering aspects, but for business aspects, or considering starting up, may also be admitted into the different courses via its business schools or departments. From Class 12 passed students, those with bachelors degrees, students who are already enrolled in the BE-BTech courses, those who wish to study something outside BTech and are interested in Design or Humanities — there is a pathway for all of these students to get into an IIT, and they do not need to clear JEE.
